Our Mission & Philosophy

A. N. Rafi, MD has more than 30 years of experience in the field of acute and chronic pain management. He finished his first medical training in Anesthesiology/Pain Management in 1994 when he was in Ireland where he practiced for more than 7 years afterwards. In 2002, he relocated to Little Rock, Arkansas, and received his second training in Anesthesiology and Pain Management at The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Dr. Rafi proudly served our veterans for more than 7 years at the VA Hospital in Little Rock. He also co-founded The Pain Center of Conway, where he practiced Chronic Pain Medicine until 2013. Dr. Rafi joined Pain Treatment Centers of America (PTCOA) in 2014, bringing his vast experience establishing PTCOA to the highest standards. In Aug 2020, Dr. Rafi left PTCOA and decided to start an independent practice in Russellville. Dr. Rafi is a Fellow of The College of Anaesthetists, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (FCA, RCSI). He is board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, the American Board of Pain Medicine, and the American Board of Aesthetic Medicine. Dr. Rafi is known for his pioneering contribution to the field of Transversus Abdominis Plane (TAP) Block, a regional anesthesia technique used to provide effective pain relief, particularly after abdominal surgeries. He was the first doctor to explain and popularize the use of this method, which helps manage post-surgical pain with minimal systemic medications. He has been a member of the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the American Academy of Pain Management, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, and the American Society of Anesthesiology. Dr. Rafi is a strong family man raising four children with his loving wife in Arkansas.
